JOB TITLE: Maintenance Technician


IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:            Maintenance Superintendent


SUPERVISES:                     N/A       


EMPLOYEE STATUS: Non-Exempt, Hourly


PURPOSE:           The Maintenance Technician is responsible for overall maintenance of the facility and equipment and tasks assigned by the Maintenance Superintendent.


AREA OF PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITY:                  Production Department




  1. Perform maintenance and set-up on equipment that is operated by computer control and/or pneumatic, electric and mechanical devices.
  1. Help maintain preventative maintenance program for all facility equipment.
  2. Report to Maintenance Superintendent when parts need to be re-stocked.
  3. Inspect, advise, perform and/or schedule repairs on equipment and facility.
  4. Inspect, advise, perform and/or schedule building maintenance and repairs.
  5. Promptly confer with immediate supervisor of any problems that may arise in carrying out the above
  6. Perform set-up on equipment as requested in order to assist production personnel.
  7. Make and repair jigs and devices for the production area.
  8. Perform precise machinist work in order to make jigs and pieces of equipment as needed.
    1. Perform basic electrical tasks, including troubleshooting of equipment.
    2. Maintain and troubleshoot fire alarm systems and fire controls





1)             Comply with HVO safety rules and regulations.




1)             Maintain a valid North Carolina driver's license and be approved by HVO's insurance carrier.

2)             Minimum of one year related experience in computer controlled machinery and/or industrial maintenance.

3)             Minimum of one year of machine shop experience.

4)             Must have demonstrated mechanical aptitude.

5)             Working knowledge and ability in arc welding and cutting.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Able to lift 75 lbs. occasionally.




1)             Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent required.

2)             Degree from an accredited technical or four year university in associated field preferred.

3)             Diploma from an accredited technical school in welding fundamentals and machine shop practice, or two years of work experience in related field.

Schedule: Friday - Sunday form 6:00am - 6:30pm

Rate of Pay: $16.40
